In order to serve the requirements stipulated by companies and employers, UMSFLEC classes and modules are scheduled flexibly to fulfil the needs of the working-adult student populace and classes are conducted by experienced UMS academicians as well as visiting lecturers.
UMSFLEC was officially established on 1 December 2006. The centre was placed

under the management of UMS Investment Holdings Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary company that managed directly under Universiti Malaysia Sabah to generate income by offering academic programmes at the university’s respective faculties. However, starting from 1st August 2018, UMSFLEC has become one of UMS center of excellence through the acquisition from its subsidiary.
